“The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all aspects of social life, including sports. But at a time when many sports organisation in the world were brought to a standstill, the TOC successfully navigated through this difficult period thanks to our organisational structure and governance which we strengthened in recent years. Thanks to its sustainable, transparent, accountable, strongly supported gender equal and environmentally sensitive management approach, the TOC has increased its revenues and the services it provides.
In addition, despite the pandemic, the TOC successfully hosted this year’s Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race, one of the world's leading swimming competitions, in a safe manner through strict COVID-19-proof measures that set a great example for international best practice.
I want to thank you all for your trust and support today. The TOC will continue to put forward its vision of being a 'pioneer' and a ‘positive example’. I want to thank especially our valuable members of the General Assembly, our members who voluntarily serve on our Executive Board, commissions and committees, our Secretary General and colleagues who work tirelessly regardless of the working conditions. In addition, I want to thank all of our main stakeholders, in particular our esteemed Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu and the Youth and Sports Ministry.”
TOC Secretary General Neşe Gündoğan said:
“Despite the negative effects the pandemic has had on every aspect of our lives for more than a year, we have increased the number of national athletes we have supported on the way to the Olympic Games to 119.
Throughout this period, we have also successfully digitalised many of the services we offer to our athletes, our youth and our children, and created added value for Turkish sports through our activities. We are looking to continuously increase the services we offer to Turkey’s sporting community.”
