Monday 26 July, our athletes competed in boxing, judo, taekwondo, sailing and swimming at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In -52kg boxing Batuhan Çiftçi lost to Rio 2016 champion Uzbek Shakhobidin Zoirov in his first match and was eliminated.
In -73kg judo, Bilal Çiloğlu defeated his Jordanian rival Younis Eyal Slman in the first round with ippon but was eliminated by Rio 2016 champion Shohei Ono from Japan in the last 16 round.
In the taekwondo's -67kg first round, Nur Tatar defeated Nigeria’s Elizabeth Oluchi Anyanacho 12-7 to advance to the quarter-finals. Losing to Paige McPherson of the USA in the quarter-finals, our athlete was eliminated from the Games when her USA opponent lost in the semi-finals.
In sailing, Ecem Güzel finished the third race in 12th place and the fourth race in 17th place. Our athlete is 12th in the general ranking with 33 net points. In the RS:X Women's Class, Dilara Uralp finished the fourth race in 23rd place, the fifth race in the 24th place and the sixth race in the 25th place. Uralp is in 23rd place with 108 net points after six races. In the RS:X Men's class, Onur Cavit Biriz finished the fourth race in 19th place, but could not finish the fifth race, and placed 14th in the sixth race. Biriz is in 17th place with 87 net points after six races.
In swimming, Viktoria Zeynep Güneş was eliminated in the 200m individual medley with 2:14.41, Deniz Ertan and Merve Tuncel in the 1500m freestyle with 16:13.22 and 16:00.51, respectively.
